One Battle After Another Star Teyana Taylor and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences have released statements in response to numerous incidents involving Taylor went viral on Sunday night. Taylor was up for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Best Picture winning film.
The first instance involving Teyana Taylor that caught the attention of social media was her reaction to Amy Madigan beating her out for Best Supporting Actress, which many felt was performative.

Teyana Taylor responded to people who were criticizing her reaction to losing Best Supporting Actress on social media
Clearly catching wind of the narrative surrounding her reaction to Madigan’s victory, Taylor took to social media to hit out at the “sore losers” who criticized her.
The world holds so much misery that miserable hearts forget the face of happiness.
They grow comfortable being sore losers, so when they see real sportsmanship it unsettles them! like holy water touching a demon. Because clapping for someone else’s victory requires something many… https://t.co/FxDGDhJseL— TEYANA M.J. TAYLOR (@TEYANATAYLOR) March 16, 2026
Then, later in the night, Taylor was seen getting into an argument with a security guard whom she claims shoved her.

On this incident, the Academy released a statement in which they called Taylor “remarkable, supportive, and kind,” while also thanking her for showing “remarkable grace.”
“We were extremely upset to learn about the experience endured by Teyana Taylor at the end of the Oscars ceremony last night. We have worked with Teyana over the last several months during awards season, and she has been nothing short of remarkable, supportive, kind, and all about community,” the Academy said in a statement.
“Though the incident was with our outside security firm SIS, the experience of every single guest is our responsibility. We have made it clear to them that this behavior is not acceptable. We want to thank Teyana for showing remarkable grace, and we are taking the appropriate measures to ensure this does not happen again.”
While Taylor lost out on Best Supporting Actress to Madigan (for Weapons), One Battle After Another took home six Oscars on Sunday night: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Editing, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Casting, and Best Supporting Actor for Sean Penn (who did not show up to accept his award).
