The first trailer for The Housemaid, Sydney Sweeney’s latest project in her increasingly busy schedule, has been released. The Housemaid is directed by Bridesmaids filmmaker Paul Feig and co-stars Amanda Seyfried.
Sydney Sweeney is coming off of back to back box office bombs following the releases of Eden and Americana in late August, and will next be seen starring in the boxing biopic Christy, which recently had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and will be released in movie theaters on November 7.
In addition The Housemaid, Eden, Americana, and Christy, Sweeney also starred in the AppleTV+ movie Echo Valley earlier this year, giving her a whopping five cinematic releases in 2025.
Here is the official synopsis and trailer for The Housemaid, which is an adaptation of the best-selling thriller novel of the same name, via Lionsgate:
“THE HOUSEMAID is a wildly entertaining thriller starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried, based on the best-selling book. From director Paul Feig, the film plunges audiences into a twisted world where perfection is an illusion, and nothing is as it seems. Trying to escape her past, Millie (Sweeney) accepts a job as a live-in housemaid for the wealthy Nina (Seyfried) and Andrew Winchester (Brandon Sklenar). But what begins as a dream job quickly unravels into something far more dangerous — a sexy, seductive game of secrets, scandal, and power. Behind the Winchesters’ closed doors lies a world of shocking twists that will leave you guessing until the very end.”
In addition to Sydney Sweeney, The Housemaid will also star Amanda Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar, Michele Morrone, and Elizabeth Perkins. At this time, while The Housemaid is not yet rated, a PG-13 rating seems likely given its target audience.
Beyond the five movies she starred in this year and the upcoming third and final season of HBO’s Euphoria, Sweeney is also attached to projects such as Edgar Wright’s remake of Barbarella, a live-action adaptation of the hit anime Gundam, OutRun directed by Michael Bay (although she’s only on board as a producer at this stage), I Pretended to Be a Missing Girl, and more.
