Disney
Let’s be honest: was it ever a doubt?
I mean, seriously, as soon as Disney announced they were remaking The Lion King, we all knew it was going to be an absolute banger, right?
Then they went ahead and cast the likes of Donald Glover, Beyonce, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, and John Oliver, and it was all but confirmed that the Mouse House potentially had yet another billion dollar movie on their hands.
Well, fellow prophetic folks, it turns out we were right all this time, as the first reactions to The Lion King have begun to hit social media following its world premiere, and yup, it is a fucking heater.
Whether it be the “game-changing” CGI, the music, the nostalgia, or the emotional knockout that the classic story itself has been delivering for 25 years, The Lion King is shaping up to be another piece of box office gold for the almighty empire that is Disney.
The Lion King is a wonderful adaptation of an iconic classic. It has a few small changes which enhance what was already great and everything else is right on point. The CG can be slightly distracting at times but the emotion quickly covers that. Loved it. pic.twitter.com/9QmsP3PmNh

Holy smokes, I really loved THE LION KING. I think (I think) it’s the most beautiful effects movie I’ve seen. Like next level, the game has changed kind of thing. (For the record I’m agnostic on the original movie and have zero nostalgia for it. Anyway, this movie hooked me.)

So #TheLionKing was the first movie I ever saw in theaters and this reimagining hit all the same notes. LOVED IT. Idk if it was Beyonce, Donald, the animation, Jon Fav… no it was probably Beyonce.

Oh man #TheLionKing delivers. It’s a visual masterpiece that will leave you smiling and crying the whole time. It’s a true testament to the lasting effect Disney movies have on all generations. Timon and Pumbaa steal the show. And BEYONCE!!! #LionKing

The Lion King is a dazzler. Gorgeous score, spot-on voice acting, but mostly, yeah, those visuals. 😍 #TheLionKing

Been lucky to have attended a number of world premieres but not sure I've ever heard as much clapping during a movie as I did tonight at #TheLionKing . Was like being at a rock concert. Movie is going to make so much money. pic.twitter.com/rnU4qf92mt

#TheLionKing is a breathtaking visual cinematic achievement. I can’t believe this is a CG animated movie. Timon and Pumbaa steal the show. It’s a good Disney remake but was it necessary? Maybe not, but it’s enjoyable and families are gonna love it.

Absolutely blown away by #TheLionKing. Incredible visuals and voice work. Cried all my makeup off. Timon and Pumba brought me back from the edge. Would die for baby Simba. pic.twitter.com/YBpncCVowz

Also, fellas, little pro tip, I’d be verrrryyy careful about which girl you go see this movie with.
If you go with like, your longtime committed girlfriend, then fuck it, get in your feelings on a Friday night. But if you go with a chick you aren’t 100% into for the long haul, stay away at all costs, cause I can promise you the combination of The Lion King and Beyoncé is going to render them into emotional tornados. Nonstop tears left, right, and center, and who needs all that messy shit on the weekend?
Disney’s ‘The Lion King’ — which stars Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé as Nala, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Billy Eichner as Timon, John Oliver as Zazu, and James Earl Jones as Mufasa — will be released in theaters in the United States on Friday, July 19.
