MAX has released the second official teaser trailer for The Penguin, the upcoming MAX series that serves as a sequel to Matt Reeves’ hit 2022 film The Batman.

The Penguin sees Colin Farrell star in the titular role and follows the Penguin as he attempts to seize control of Gotham City’s criminal underworld following the death of John Turturro’s Carmine Falcone and the flooding of the city in The Batman.

Check out the second official teaser for for The Penguin, which MAX has announced will be released in September, below.

Alongside Academy Award-nominee Colin Farrell in the lead role of Oz Cobb, The Penguin also stars Cristin Milioti, Clancy Brown, Michael Zegen, Michael Kelly, Rhenzy Feliz, Theo Rossi, and more.

Director Matt Reeves is also currently working on a direct sequel to The Batman, although unfortunately for fans, that film is not scheduled to hit theaters until Fall 2026 — over four years after the release of The Batman.

Both The Penguin and The Batman have nothing to do with James Gunn’s newly forming DCU, which is set to debut in July 2025 with the release of SupermanSuperman, which is in the midst of production, stars David Corenswet in the lead role of Clark Kent/Superman alongside Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.

In addition to The Penguin, 2024 also saw Farrell star in the AppleTV+ series Sugar. The 48-year-old Oscar-nominated Irishman is also currently filming the movie A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, which co-stars Margot Robbie and is directed by After Yang filmmaker Kogonada.
