More than 30 years after its initial release, the 1993 coming-of-age movie The Sandlot still holds up as one of the great films of its generation.
For millennials, particularly millennial men, The Sandlot represents everything that was good about their childhood. And the best part is, the cast of the movie is still friendly, even three decades later.
How do we know this? Because Patrick Renna, who played the iconic character Ham Porter, showed us as much with a recent Instagram post where he called up the fellas just to wish them a good night.
‘The Sandlot’ Cast Takes Part In Viral Trend
Renna’s post was inspired by a viral TikTok trend where grown men call their friends just to wish them goodnight and film the reaction.
He started by calling Tom Guiry, who played the leading role of “Smalls.” Guiry seemed overjoyed to hear from his former co-star, as the two talked about meeting up in Boston in the future and told one another they love each other, as the homies should do.
He then called Marty York, who played Alan “Yeah-Yeah” McClennan, who was happy to hear from Renna, but confused as to why he was going to bed at 5:30 p.m. Then came Shane Obedzinski, who played Tommy “Repeat” Timmons, and Victor DiMattia, who played Tommy’s older brother, Timmy Timmons.
Both Obedzinski and DiMattia, the latter especially, were happy to hear from Renna, with DiMattia saying that the call made his day.
Renna followed up by calling Brandon Quintin Adams, who played Kenny DeNunez and who Renna said he was most nervous about calling. Adams immediately begun to crack up laughing before wishing Renna a good night as well and saying that he loved him as well.
Lastly, he called Grant Gelt, who played second baseman Bertram Grover Weeks, and Chauncey Leopardi, who was Michael “Squints” Palledorou, both of whom were happy to hear from Renna.
He finishes the video by calling Adams back, who then asks if the video was going on the internet while chopping it up with Renna.
The whole thing was a reminder that sometimes things can still be wholesome, and that one of the greatest coming-of-age films of all-time formed an incredible bond between cast members.
