Photos of Academy Award nominated actors Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas on the streets of London has sparked speculation about the relationship between the pair. Cruise and de Armas were first photographed on February 13 and then again a month later on March 14.
When Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas were first spotted together in February, an alleged inside source told People Magazine that the pair had no romantic connection and were just meeting, accompanied by their agents, to “discuss potential collaborations down the line.” Both Cruise and de Armas have tentpole films releasing this summer in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning and Ballerina, respectively.
After further speculation about the status of their relationship on social media after they were spotted together in March, a source again spoke to People to clarify that they’re not romantically involved, and this time were joined by director Doug Liman, who Cruise has worked with on films such as Edge of Tomorrow and American Made.
The pair have also been developing a project that would should in outer space for a better part of the decade, which is potentially what they were meeting with de Armas about.
In May, Cruise will star in what’s seemingly his final entry in the Mission: Impossible franchise when Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning hits theaters on May 23. As for de Armas, she’ll be stepping into the world of the John Wick franchise as she’ll be starring in the spin-off film Ballerina, which releases on June 6.
This year, Cruise began production on his next project, a starring role in an untitled film from Birdman and The Revenant director Alejandro González Iñárritu. While details surrounding the film are scarce, reports indicate the story will follow “the most powerful man in the world” as he “embarks on a frantic mission to prove he is humanity’s savior before the disaster he’s unleashed destroys everything.”
The part in Iñárritu’s next project marks Cruise’s first starring role in something other than an action movie since he starred in American Made in 2017. Since 2008, the case could be made that Cruise has starred in just two films that weren’t “action” movies — Rock of Ages in 2012 and American Made.
