Over the summer, comic book movie fans across the globe were sent into a panic when it was announced that Marvel Studios and Sony had failed to come to a new agreement regarding the use of Spider-Man, which would have subsequently removed the iconic character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Luckily for all of us, cooler (and money-hungry) heads prevailed and the two behemoth Hollywood studios were able to come to an agreement.

However, according to franchise star Tom Holland, it wasn’t only the money-grubbing big wigs who played a part in getting the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man back into the MCU.

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Holland revealed that a drunken phone call between him and Disney CEO Bob Iger played a role in keeping Spidey in his rightful cinematic home.

Holland, who was there to promote his Will Smith pigeon spy movie Spies in Disguise, said that he was “devastated” by the Marvel-Sony split and asked for Disney CEO Robert Iger’s contact information so he could thank him for “changing my life in the best way.” Holland “got his email, I sent him the email, and he responded very quickly saying, ‘I’d love to jump on the phone with you at some point — when are you free?’ And you don’t give Bob Iger a schedule. You’re like, whenever Bob!” That “whenever” turned out to be when he was at a pub trivia night.

“I get a phone call from an unknown number, and I have a feeling like, I think this is Bob Iger… but I’m drunk,” he said, adding, “I was really emotional because I felt like it was all coming to an end.” [via Uproxx]

So, there ya have it, kids: whenever life gives you a problem, drown it in alcohol!
