Actor Tom Welling, best known for playing Clark Kent/Superman on the TV series Smallville, was arrested for a driving under the influence over the weekend in California. According to reports, Welling was arrested in an Arby’s parking lot.
According to police records obtained by gossip rags such as TMZ and Page Six, Welling, 47 years old, was arrested outside of an Arby’s fast food restaurant in Yreka, California around midnight on Sunday, January 26.
Welling reportedly had a blood alcohol level above the legal limit of .08 and was taken into police custody, where he was booked and charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence, and was released without bail around 7 a.m. local time later that morning.

The Arby’s in Yreka, California is located at 1899 Fort Jones Road and has daily hours of 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., meaning Welling was arrested outstide the establishment when it was already closed.
In addition to playing the lead role in Smallvile, Welling also starred in the Cheaper by the Dozen films with Steve Martin and movies such as The Fog, Draft Day, and The Choice.
Back in October, Welling expressed an interest in playing Superman again because of his young kids.
“Because of the two boys that I have with my lovely wife…we have a bunch of costumes at home. It started out at the first Halloween and now we have, I don’t know, 40 or 50 costumes,” Welling told ComicBookMovie.
“The one costume we don’t have is the Superman costume. I asked my son why and he said, ‘Because he’s taken’ and I said, ‘By who?’ ‘By [you].’ That was like, ‘Alright, I think I’m open to the idea now.’ So, if you know anybody, I think it would be great. I think it would be fun to be part of.'”
Welling hasn’t done much acting in recent years, though, having last appeared in the three episodes of The CW series The Winchesters in 2022. In 2019, Welling reprised his role of Clark Kent/Superman in a crossover episode of The CW series Batwoman.
