It’s been a busy three years for popular rap star Megan Thee Stallion. However, on Tuesday, there was some breaking news regarding her shooting incident back in 2020.

After three years of going through trial, Tory Lanez, the man who shot Megan Thee Stallion, is being sentenced to prison for 10 years.

According to Uproxx, “Tory was initially accused of shooting Megan in the summer of 2020 after a flirtation early in the year during quarantine that entertained and amused fans of the two rappers.”

Uproxx continues by stating, “Unfortunately, after a party in the Hollywood Hills that July, Lanez was arrested for having a concealed weapon and Megan revealed that she’d been shot shortly thereafter, after initially telling police she’d cut herself on glass out of fear.”

Tory Lanez “was found guilty in December 2022 of assault with a firearm causing great bodily injury; concealing a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle; and discharging a firearm with gross negligence,” per Uproxx.

Lanez’s original sentencing was aiming for 13 years. During the case, his defense attorney ” asked for probation and rehab, but only after trying and failing to have the trial declared a mistrial and to have Judge Herriford removed from the case,” via Uproxx.

It’s also been reported that Lanez will attempt to appeal the 10 year prison sentence using Suge Knight’s legal team. So, there will likely be more trials in the near future.

With that said, Tory Lanez will be busy with his legal issues while Megan Thee Stallion will continue to live her best life.

Since the shooting incident, she’s become one of the most popular female rappers in the game. She’s won multiple awards in the last three years, including Grammy’s for Best New Artist, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance.

In 2021 she was the first female artist to win Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song at the Grammy’s, which catapulted her career.

It’s safe to say, she’s just getting started and it’ll be fun to see where her career goes from here.
