I’m old enough to remember when it was the job of your girl’s best friend to interrogate you and see if you were worthy but apparently ‘Loyalty Testers‘ are being used these days. It is an emerging trend where loyalty testers have been hired through TikTok and they share videos of the exchanges which leads to girls hiring the tester to go flirt with their boyfriends and see if they would be unfaithful.
Pro-tip: if you think you need to hire a loyalty tester to see if your partner would be unfaithful then you should not be in that relationship, or potentially any relationship for that matter. If this is happening then there are some major red flags (insecurity issues, potential cheating, intimacy issues) that aren’t being addressed.
There was a recent feature on Loyalty Tests in USA Today which has shed light on how popular this trend is becoming. In the not too distant past, loyalty testing seemed to be nothing more than an urban legend or a YouTube prank but it has solidified into an actual business and on ‘Loyalty-Test.com,’ which has been featured in the NYTimes, you can hire one of their testers to go test your partner.
Loyalty Testers In Action
Aaaaand here is another example of a loyalty test in action:
A video about loyalty testers in action on YouTube 2 years ago got 14 million (!!!) views.
Do I need to reiterate everything I said above? If you are hiring someone to entrap your partner because you are so insecure about them cheating then you really, truly, DEEPLY need to look within yourself.
And I’m not implying that’s because you have skeletons in your closet and you are the potential cheater. If you are uncomfortable enough to suspect your partner of cheating and willing to pay someone to go undercover and flirt with them you should just be single. That relationship is not right for you. When it is a healthy and happy relationship those looming concerns about infidelity don’t exist. You are able to fully trust someone.
And these aren’t just my thoughts, dating coach Amy Chan told USA Today “as someone who’s worked with thousands of heartbroken individuals, I can tell you that these tests are essentially relationship sabotage disguised as peace of mind. When you hire someone to test your partner’s loyalty, you’re already operating from a foundation of suspicion rather than trust. This approach doesn’t build security − it erodes it. It introduces deception into the relationship, and ironically, makes you the one engaging in dishonest behavior while claiming to seek honesty.”
So do yourself a favor and just be single and get out of that relationship before ever consulting loyalty testers… With all that said, there are a lot of ‘loyalty test gone wrong’ videos on YouTube that show how awkward things get for everyone involved when they are exposed as cheaters, which ultimately is a good thing if it leads to the end of the relationship, but these are…weird.
