Anyone who’s familiar with Trick Daddy is aware that he is not the best option if you’re looking for a rapper to perform a family-friendly set. However, that didn’t prevent one sorority chapter from booking him before cutting his appearance short, and he shared his side of the story after the ill-fated performance went viral.
As Eminem noted on “The Real Slim Shady,” Will Smith doesn’t have to cuss to sell records, but that puts him in the minority when you consider the vast majority of rap albums have lyrics that justify a “PARENTAL ADVISORY” sticker getting plastered on the cover.
That is certainly the case with Trick Daddy, the Miami native who is nearing the 30th anniversary of a debut album that set the tone for a career that has produced profanity-filled tracks like “Let’s Go,” “Take It to da House,” and “I’m A Thug.”
The rapper, who initially made a name for himself on a song with 2 Live Crew, has never shied away from the raunchy lyrics at the center of a discography that features seven albums with “Thug” in the name, and the man who is proud to call himself one has a lengthy rap sheet to back up his claims.
As a result, anyone who’s even remotely familiar with his music should know what they’re signing up for when they hire him to perform, but that was apparently not the case with a sorority chapter that he’s now found himself beefing with.
Trick Daddy fired back at an Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority chapter that accused him of “disrespect” after pulling the plug on his performance
Last week, thousands of people associated with Alpha Kappa Alpha, the historically Black sorority that’s part of the “Divine Nine,” descended upon Orlando, Florida for the annual 73rd South Atlantic Regional Conference.
Friday night’s festivities featured a Step and Stroll competition that was capped off by a performance by Trick Daddy. However, it was cut short after organizers yanked him off the stage due to the risque lyrics and explicit language attendees were treated to once he hopped on the microphone.
The chapter’s regional director issued a statement apologizing for his behavior while asserting Trick Daddy had ignored their requests concerning “attire, language, and specific songs,” saying his performance was “not acceptable” and justifying the decision to cut him off due to “disrespect for our organization and our brand.”

It is safe to say Trick Daddy was not thrilled with the organization based on what he had to say in a ten-minute video he posted in response, bluntly stating “You should have known that when y’all booked me” while making it clear he is not in the business of cleaning up his lyrics or catering his sets for people who hire him.
Trick Daddy has responded: ‘Anybody in there that was saddity and sanctified should not have been in there once I grabbed that MF’in mic.

Interestingly enough, 2 Live Crew’s Uncle Luke was also tapped for the event, and while it appears his performance went off without a hitch, it seems like organizers opted for a theme that had plenty of potential to backfire.
