‘Tron: Ares’ Bombed So Hard That Jared Leto May Finally Be Toast As A Movie Star, Disney Reportedly Killing The Franchise

Tron: Ares has been such a bomb at the box office that it may kill the career of both the franchise itself and its star, Jared Leto.

While producing a third Tron movie for $180 million was already a massive risk for Disney considering the middling box office returns of the first two films, having the controversial Jared Leto as its star proved to be too much to overcome, as Tron: Ares made just above $60 million worldwide in its opening weekend.

Tron: Ares has bottomed out so hard, in fact, that reports from Hollywood indicate that it could finally end Leto’s career as an A-list movie star.

Tron: Ares has been such a big box office bomb that Disney is reportedly killing the franchise

“The kinds of hefty paydays Leto earned for Ares could be in the past, as an agency partner says that studios already had stepped away from the actor as a leading-man choice after the failure of Sony’s Spider-Man universe spinoff Morbius,” reported THR.

“’In a world where Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor and Benedict Cumberbatch are having a hard time getting lead roles, why would you even go to a person who can’t open a movie and who has question marks around him as a person?’ asks one top talent manager partner.”

Not only has Tron: Ares perhaps stuck in fork in Leto’s career, but it’s also killed the cinematic future of the franchise, as “sources say Tron will likely retire from the big screen.”
