The dust is still settling after Diddy was arrested in connection with a slew of disturbing allegations that could lead to the mogul ending up in prison for the rest of his life, and he could be facing even more legal trouble now that members of Tupac Shakur’s family are taking a closer look at his murder.

It’s been close to 30 years since Tupac Shakur was tragically slain in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas at the age of 25, which transpired less than six months before The Notorious B.I.G. was gunned down in Los Angeles to essentially bring the era of hip-hop that was defined by the feud between rappers on the East Coast and the West Coast to an end.

As things currently stand, 2Pac’s murder is officially unsolved, although things took a somewhat unexpected turn around a year ago when Duane “Keefe D” Davis was arrested and charged with orchestrating the hit with the help of two fellow South Side Crips (including DeAndre “Dre” Smith, who is believed to be the man who pulled the trigger).

That trial isn’t set to get underway until next March, and based on the evidence that surfaced so far, it doesn’t appear prosecutors have any plans to implicate Diddy in the crime despite plenty of murmurings from investigators and industry insiders who’ve long speculated the Bad Boy Records founder had a hand in the hit that led to the death of the crown jewel of Death Row Records at the time.

According to Rolling Stone, Tupac’s surviving family members have now decided to take a closer look at the circumstances of his killing shortly after Diddy ended up in jail after being charged with a slew of felonies linked to his infamous “Freak Off” parties, as the outlet confirmed his siblings have hired big-shot attorney Alex Spiro to lead an investigation exploring the producer’s potential involvement in the murder.

Court documents that were released over the summer included a transcript of an interview with Davis that police conducted in 2009 where he claimed Diddy had paid out a $1 million bounty he put on Shakur’s head to a drug dealer who helped orchestrate the shooting.

That interview surfaced shortly before Shakur’s family said they were exploring the possibility of filing a wrongful death lawsuit against Diddy, and the decision to hire Spiro (who has previously represented notable names including Aaron Hernandez, Jay-Z, and Elon Musk) would suggest they’re one step closer to following through.
