New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough is going to be the grand marshal at Pygmalion during the first week of Mardi Gras. His wife, Jordan Shough, could not be more pregnant.
The 26-year-old could foreseeably go into labor during the parade.
Her husband, who could soon be named as the Rookie of the Year in the NFL, has a plan already in place should things start to happen quickly. I would imagine he will also have to manage his alcohol intake — just in case.
Tyler Shough is the grand marshal of Pygmalion.
For those who are not familiar with Mardi Gras, it is the most important holiday in the Big Easy. New Orleanians wait all year for the first few weeks of February.
Lundi Gras is set on Monday, Feb. 16 with the official day of Mardi Gras set for Tuesday, Feb. 17. The parades got under way on the sixth of January. The Krewe of Pygmalion will take to the streets of Uptown New Orleans at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7. Shough will be with them!
To be named as the grand marshal of a specific Krewe during Mardi Gras is a distinct honor. It is often a local celebrity, hero or leader in the community.
Tyler Shough, the starting quarterback for the Saints, can be considered all three.
What if his wife goes into labor during Mardi Gras?
Tyler and Jordan Shough married in April 2024. They announced in November that they are expecting a son. Assuming all things go according to plan, he will be born this month.
The exact due date is under wraps but I would imagine it is not the seventh if Jordan allowed Tyler to be the grand marshal of Pygmalion. But you never know!
What happens if she goes into labor?
Shough spoke about his plan during a conversation with Garland Gillen. Desi Vega’s (one of the best restaurants in the city) is going to help him out. There are multiple cars on standby, on the parade route, should he need to hop off of his float and get to the hospital. He is ready to go if the baby is ready to go.
Next weekend Saints QB Tyler Shough will be the grand marshal of Pygmalion.

I asked Shough what happens if his wife, Jordan, goes into labor during the parade? Well, there’s a plan for that. pic.twitter.com/NAYzzkVmc8
This likely means that Tyler Shough will have to manage his alcohol intake. What if he gets the call? You can’t show up to the hospital for the birth of your first child when you’re Mardi Gras drunk!
