Unless they manage to dishonor me or my family at some point over the course of a ride, I give basically every Uber driver who picks me up a five-star rating so I can feel slightly better about myself if the world ever actually heads in the direction of that one episode of Black Mirror. With that said, there are certain small touches I appreciate being met with when I get into the car of a total stranger (if I pop open the back door and see the passenger seat is pushed all the way to the front, it’s a virtual guarantee that we’re going to get along just fine).
I know a lot of people who ask their driver to hand over the aux cable when they start the ride, which I tend to avoid at the risk of getting my passenger rating docked because my guy lacks an appreciation for the musical stylings of Sugar Ray. As a result, I usually just listen to whatever they have playing when I get in, which is how I managed to hear the song “Despacito” 127 times last year despite never making the conscious decision to seek it out.
However, one Uber driver went above and beyond when it came to catering to his clientele— and he’s garnered plenty of attention thanks to the playlists he made for them.
TJ Jones recently decided to start driving for Uber, and after a few days on the road, he noticed a few patterns. This led to him creating eleven different playlists designed to cater to different subsets of passengers he encounters over the course of his shifts— including “Fucking Hipsters” and “White Dudes Who Look Like The[y] Like Rap”:
So I just started driving for uber and Lyft and I’ve been getting a lot more compliments on my music since generalizing my passengers by 1 of these 11 playlists pic.twitter.com/WhX1O5wZ4b

If you’re in the business about getting way too worked up about things on the internet, I suggest you go to your social media outlet of choice and rant about it. If you’re a normal person who finds enjoyable things enjoyable, I suggest you head to his Spotify account to check out the specifics of each playlist.
