Dallas-Fort Worth Airport is one of the busiest airports in the country, so it’s no surprise that it’s extra busy on Thanksgiving Eve.
On Wednesday, thousands of travelers found themselves stuck in traffic while trying to reach DFW for holiday travel.
Officials urged travelers to take public transportation because they expect 3 million people to travel during Thanksgiving break.
“We want you to consider plans that you haven’t before, so that might be taking public transit to the airport,” said Rob Himler, senior manager of construction communications at DFW Airport. “So, you can avoid the holiday traffic and the holiday bustle here at the airport.”
Videos on social media show how terrible traffic is outside DFW on Thanksgiving Eve.

“This is why you’re supposed to fly out the day of Thanksgiving or two days before, cause omg,” commented one user on X
“You gotta be at least mostly crazy to travel the night before Thanksgiving,” said another user.
It seems likely that a lot of people missed their flights after seeing how crazy traffic was outside of DFW.
