Vin Diesel Wants A Marvel Legend To Join The ‘Fast’ Franchise For The Final Film

The Budget For 'Fast X' Has Ballooned To An Astronomically High Number

While the Fast and Furious franchise may (allegedly) be coming to an end in the next few years, that doesn’t mean that Vin Diesel doesn’t still have big plans for it.

During a recent red-carpet interview at the premiere of the Fast X trailer on Thursday (we’re having trailer premieres now, apparently), Diesel said he would like to see the franchise cast Robert Downey Jr. to play the villain in the final movie.

When asked about his dream casting at the Fast X trailer premiere on Thursday night, Diesel, who plays protagonist Dom Toretto, gave RDJ’s name without hesitation. But who would he play?

“Without telling you too much about what happens in the future, there’s a character who is the antithesis of Dom who is promoting AI and driverless cars and a philosophy that with that goes your freedom,” Diesel said.  “There is somebody that believes that’s the future, and that’s at direct odds with the Toretto mentality.” [via Variety]

Fast fans should make sure to tune into Super Bowl LVII between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, as the first trailer for Fast X — which hits theaters in the United States on May 19 — will debut during the game.

In addition to Diesel, Fast X features a massive ensemble cast that includes the likes of Jason Statham, Jason Momoa, Michelle Rodriguez, John Cena, Brie Larson, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Nathalie Emmanuel, Scott Eastwood, Michael Rooker, Daniela Melchior, Alan Ritchson, Helen Mirren, Cardi B, Rita Moreno, and Charlize Theron.
