‘You Need To Worry About Your Dads’: Virginia Beverage Cart Girl Says ‘The Boyfriends’ Aren’t The Ones You Need To Worry About On The Golf Course

A part-time beverage cart worker is setting the record straight about which golfers are really causing problems on the course.

Her video has sparked conversations about behavior and boundaries in service industry settings. She’s calling out a specific age group of men for their inappropriate conduct.

Beverage Cart Girl Shares Uncomfortable Reality

In a viral video with more than 42,000 views, beverage cart worker Alex Carroll (@alexcarroll98) reveals what she’s observed during her time working as a cart girl at a Virginia golf course.

“So I work part-time as a cart girl at a golf course, and I know a lot of girls are, like, worried about their boyfriends out here, but your boyfriends are not who you need to worry about,” Carroll says in the video.

She quickly clarifies who the real issue is.

“You need to worry about your dads,” she says.

The caption reinforces her point with a direct statement. “Trust me, your dads are the ones who hit on us the most,” it says.

Harassment Of Beverage Cart Workers Is A Widespread Issue

Carroll’s experience reflects a broader pattern documented across the golf industry. In a 2022 Business Insider report interviewing five beverage cart workers, multiple women described harassment as a regular occurrence on the job. One cart girl recounted how men sometimes comment on her clothes or body, whistle at her, or try to touch her. Another noted that some customers had gotten handsy, calling it “annoying and weird.”

The issue can escalate to serious legal action. In January 2023, former Old Ranch Country Club beverage cart attendant Peyton Stover filed a lawsuit seeking over $15 million. She alleged she was groped and sexually harassed by club members. According to Valiant Law, Stover claimed that when she approached management about the ongoing harassment, their response implied club members “pay enough” to do “as they wish.”

The lawsuit alleged one member offered $300 to see her breasts and lifted up her shirt in front of other members.

In a 2015 Golf Digest investigation where a journalist worked undercover as a beverage cart attendant, workers reported that inappropriate behavior from customers was routine. One cart girl recounted how a golfer held out a $50 bill and demanded she show her chest.

The isolation of working alone on golf courses can make beverage cart attendants particularly vulnerable, as there are often no managers or witnesses present when inappropriate behavior occurs.
