Server Says Table Of 15 Walked In With No Notice. Then They All Ask For Waters—It Turned Out To Be The Worst Thing They Could Have Asked: ‘And I Bet They Tipped $5’

A server recounted the frustrating moment a walk-in of 15 people arrived to her section. As if the size of the party wasn’t difficult enough, their behavior didn’t help the stressful situation. Viewers are now discussing restaurant etiquette for large parties in the comments section of the now-viral video.

TikToker and server Angel (@a.victoria__) explains the uncomfortable situation from a few days prior as she gets ready for her next shift. She says that the other servers had been cut right before a party of 15 people walked in and sat in her section.

She started off by taking the table’s drink order. Only a few people ordered a beers. Then, one woman at the table asked for waters for the entire table.

Why Did The Table Confront Her About Their Waters?

“Pouring out 15 waters is going to take me a little second,” she explains. As she pours the waters, she sees the woman storming up behind her.

“Tap! Tap! Can I get like a water, please? I, like, really need a water right now!” Angel says, imitating the impatient customer.

Angel brings the woman a water before finishing filling the other cups. Then, the woman cuts her off and questions why she only brought her water. She reminds Angel again that the entire table needs waters.

“I know! I’m trying to pour them,” Angel recalls saying, letting out a frustrated scream as she tells the story. She says the table flagged her down while she was speaking to another table to pester her about their waters again.

Eventually she says she asked one of her co-workers to help her pour the rest of the waters so that she could attend to her other tables.

Did The Table’s Bad Behavior Continue?

However, the table continued to interrupt her as she took another’s order. She says they insisted that they were ready to order, despite only half of the table actually being ready.

She says she only took half of the table’s order at their request. Then she says she saw the same woman who bothered her about the waters march up behind her again. The woman, per Angel, claimed that they were ready to place the rest of their order and insisted she come back to the table.

When she got to the table, a guest remarked that they weren’t ready to order, even though they asked her to come over.

She pretends to punch the camera at the end of the clip to convey her irritation. The video reached over 153,000 views.

Is It Rude To Interrupt Your Server?

If your server is taking a while to come back to the table, there’s a polite way to get their attention. According to servers in the r/serverlife subreddit, making eye contact with a quick head nod will usually do the trick. Interrupting servers while they help other tables is always a major no-no.

Servers on the subreddit shared how they handle the awkward moment guests compete for their attention.

“Interrupting me while I am helping another guest grinds my gears,” one wrote. “I either ignore them because I am helping someone else at that moment or I say real quick ‘I am helping this guest at the moment. I’ll be right back with you’ and continue on.”

“Same i ignore them, i also ignore them when they interrupt me and i just talk louder. probably not the best method for tips but thankfully it’s rare, and i don’t want to be treated like a doormat,” another said.

Commenters on the viral video also weighed in, calling out the 15-top for its rude behavior.

“I’m only about 1/4 of the way into this and my heart rate is way up. I’m pissed for you,” one viewer wrote.

Another remarked, “The amount of times I’ve had to deal with this exact situation is insane. Absolutely no human decency.”

“Isn’t it such an honor to wait on people on their first day on earth,” a third joked.
