The fifth and final season of Prime Video’s hit superhero satire series The Boys premiered earlier this month, and with it returned the speculation about actress Erin Moriarty that follows her everywhere. Specifically, fans are discussing the change in her appearance since the show premiered back in 2019.

Since the premiere of The Boys fifth season, distasteful memes about Erin Moriarty’s looks have been going viral on social media, largely ignoring that she’s been open with her struggles with an autoimmune disease in recent years.

Back in June of last year, Moriarty publicly disclosed that she was diagnosed with Graves’ disease, which is an autoimmune condition that causes the thyroid to overproduce hormones, with symptoms including weight fluctuation, eye changes, and altered facial appearance.

“Autoimmune disease manifests differently in everybody/every body. Your experience will be different from mine. My experience will be different from yours. Perhaps greatly, perhaps minutely. One thing I can say: if I hadn’t chalked it all up to stress and fatigue, I would’ve caught this sooner. A month ago, I was diagnosed with Graves’ disease. Within 24 hours of beginning treatment, I felt the light coming back on,” The Boys star wrote on Instagram in June 2025.

The return of The Boys has reignited speculation about what’s happened to Erin Moriarty’s face despite the fact she’s already confirmed she suffers from Graves’ disease

Despite the seriousness diagnosis, lonely dudes on the internet have remained critical of her apperance.

“SHE HAD A CRIPPLING AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE, you f—— WEIRDO,” read one viral reply. “This poor woman had to explain it countless times and y’all don’t f—— care. Too upset she no longer looks like a teen girl for you to j-off to.”

“Y’all are so f—— disgusting and misogynistic. She has a chronic illness which caused her appearance to change, and she’s still beautiful regardless. I would LOVE to see how you people look behind your fake profile pics,” a second concurred.
