There are so many different aesthetics and standards of beauty in the U.S., from baddies to cottagecore to alt. Each have their own appeal and audience, and this bartender understands that.
But when she tried to get real with a customer about why she knows she’s not a Miami 10, his well-meaning response only made things worse.
Bartender Calls Herself A ‘Jacksonville 7’
In a TikTok with more than 2,900 views, Chelsea (@chellyeah1996), a bartender in Jacksonville, Florida, films herself at work recounting a conversation that just went sideways.
Something to note is that she’s clearly put-together—styled short blonde hair, well-done makeup with lashes, pronounced blush, and subtle eye makeup.
Chelsea explains that a customer came in, and they got to chatting. Chelsea asked where he was from. Miami, he said. She told him she’d never been, so he asked her why not.
“Honestly, and I mean this in the most, like, not self-deprecating way possible,” Chelsea says, “I am at my, like, strong best, with extensions and everything done, maybe a Jacksonville seven. Why the fuck would I embarrass myself in Miami and not have a good time?”
“Well, personality goes a long way,” he replied. While Chelsea knew he meant it nicely, she still cringed a bit.
What Is A ‘Miami 10’?
According to a Reddit thread on r/beauty discussing the differences between a “New York 10,” an “LA 10,” and a “Miami 10,” there are distinct beauty archetypes associated with each city—and Miami’s has a very specific reputation.
While a New York 10 is described as “modelesque” with a “sleek, clean” look, and an LA 10 is the “blonde, tan, influencer” aesthetic, a Miami 10 is all about curves, big breasts and butts, likely some cosmetic work, long hair, and a flashy, clubbing vibe.
One commenter summed it up by comparing famous women: “Bella Hadid is a NY 10, Gigi is an LA 10, and Kylie is a Miami 10.”
According to MoneyMagpie, a “Miami 10” is shorthand for someone who looks “ultra-glamorous, polished, and wealthy”—the kind of woman you’d see in a South Beach club or brunching in Bal Harbour. Think flawless tan, silky blowout, expensive-looking makeup, tight glam outfits, white teeth, and luxury accessories.
