A woman ordered a basket of fries from a Los Angeles Wingstop. She instantly realized that something was different about them and learned the restaurant may have changed up their recipe. However, viewers of the now-viral TikTok are split on whether the change is a good thing.
In a video with over 724,000 views, TikToker Luna Vincent (@itslunavincent) sits at a table in Wingstop and holds up the fries.
“Public service announcement. Wingstop has changed their french fries,” she says. “I took one bite, and I was like, ‘Something is seriously off.'”
She decides to ask one of the workers at the front of the restaurant what changed.
“They are now frozen,” she alleges she found out before comparing them to stadium fries. “They’re not freshly made. They taste like the fries you get at an Angel or a Dodgers game that, you know, are just, like, not good.”
Vincent tagged Wingstop in the caption, writing, “BRING THE OG FRENCH FRIES RECIPE BACK!!!!”
Have Other Wingstop Customers Noticed The Change?
Customers began to notice a change in the restaurant chain’s fries in mid-2025, posting their opinions on the new side on social media. Wingstop did not make an official announcement explaining the change.
One poster on the r/wingstop subreddit called the change “disappointing,” posting a picture of the fries. They wrote, “They look and taste like frozen fries. With a different seasoning. I loved the hand-cut ones with their older seasoning.”
Some longtime Wingstop customers suggest that the change to the fries will make them go less often.
“Yup they were my favorite fries ever and honestly the main reason that i even got wingstop. incredibly disappointing,” one wrote.
Another added, “I am super disappointed with this as well. These were my favorite fries of all time. Especially with the cheese sauce. I have found myself visiting WS much less because of it.”
However, Wingstop workers weighed in on the forum, explaining why the restaurant may have abandoned their original, hand-cut fries.
“We changed the fries though because it was a huge complaint. They would leave piles of uneaten fries and deliveries were horrible because they would say ‘ice cold, burnt, soggy, old left out fries,'” a commenter on the Reddit post said.
Do Viewers Agree With The TikToker?
While some viewers agree that the new fries “suck,” others welcomed the change.
“Good bc their fries weren’t good,” one viewer remarked.
A second said, “Wingstop fries have always been nasty soggy if anything this is a step up.”
“They werent good to begin with… how can it get any worse,” a third asked.
However, the negative comments about the original fries stirred up debate with Wingstop customers, who agreed with the TikToker.
“They are not good. The only thing that is keeping that company alive is their ranch. If that changes, they are absolutely done for,” a commenter suggested.
“Reading the comments got me confused because I thought we went there specifically for the fries,” another pointed out.
