Wiz Khalifa’s Undying Love Of Weed Landed Him In Handcuffs While Performing In Romania

Anyone who’s familiar with Wiz Khalifa knows his Personal Brand largely revolves around his well-documented love for marijuana, but his decision to indulge during a show in a country where the drug is firmly outlawed came back to bite him thanks to what unfolded in Romania over the weekend.

The likes of Snoop Dogg, Cypress Hill, and Curren$y blazed (pun intended) the path that Wiz Khalifa found himself going down when he burst onto the scene around the turn of the 2010s thanks in no small part to the weed-centric mixtapes that put him on the map.

While that particular topic may have only earned a flippant reference on his biggest hit (“Black and Yellow,” his ode to the city of Pittsburgh), Wiz has arguably earned a spot on the Mount Rushmore of Stoner Rap thanks to the central theme that links the bulk of his oeuvre, and it’s safe to say marijuana tends to have a very visible presence at his shows.

I’d argue if you’ve gone to a Wiz Khalifa concert where he didn’t smoke weed on stage, you haven’t really gone to a Wiz Khalifa concert at all, and on Saturday, he made sure fans who attended his show during a music festival in Costinești, Romania got the full experience when he lit up a joint in the middle of his performance.

Unfortunately for Wiz, Romania frowns upon the recreational use of marijuana to the point where you can land in prison for up to 10 years if you’re caught with the drug, and the rapper found himself in handcuffs after being arrested by police who charged him with illegal possession of the “risk drug” after seizing at least 18 grams allegedly in his possession.

It’s unclear what type of punishment Wiz is facing, but he was seemingly released and allowed to roam free based on the tweet he posted on Sunday where he pledged to return to Romania in the future—but “without a big a– joint.”
