The First Official Trailer For ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ Is Here

Warner Bros.

In the two-plus years since the release of Wonder Woman, Warner Bros. has turned the corner when it comes to their DC Comics movies, as Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Shazam!, and Joker have all been solid if not fantastic.

Directed by Patty Jenkins and starring an irresistible Gal Gadot, it can be argued that if it weren’t for the success of the original Wonder Woman, the DCEU may have already been dead and buried by now.

Luckily for DC fans, just like she did in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Princess Diana of Themyscira saved the day, putting the DCEU back on track.

Naturally, given that the original film was such a massive critical and commercial success, Warner Bros. began production on the sequel, Wonder Woman 1984, almost immediately. Now, after adding Kristen Wiig and Pedro Pascal to a cast that already featured Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, and Robin Wright, we’ve got our first official trailer for the highly-anticipated film, which is set to be the ninth entry in the DC Extended Universe.

Here’s the official synopsis for Wonder Woman 1984:

Diana Prince comes into conflict with the Soviet Union during the Cold War in the 1980s and finds a formidable foe by the name of the Cheetah.

Wonder Woman 1984, which also stars Natasha Rothwell, Ravi Patel, Gabriella Wilde, Kristoffer Polaha and Amr Waked, will hit theaters in the United States on Friday, June 5, 2020. In addition to Wonder Woman 1984, 2020 will also see the release of the Margot Robbie-starring Birds of Prey, which hits theaters on February 7.
