Heading into the 2023 season, New York Jets owner Woody Johnson was obviously feeling great about his team’s prospects, as the 76-year-old billionaire came out of his shell a little bit, as evidenced by the massive diamond chain that he unveiled in Hard Knocks.
Johnson also wore the chain to the Jets’ opening night win over the Buffalo Bills, which allowed for a truly absurd photo op. with rapper Sexyy Red.
In the photo, Johnson — with the chain on and the top of his shirt unbuttoned — is posing side by side with Sexyy Red, who held up a stack of cash to her ear.

Given the absurd nature of the photo, it immediately went viral on social media, with one person pointing out that Johnson’s name is actually more absurd than Red’s.

While Johnson likely went into Monday night’s Bills game with hopes of seeing his Jets compete in the playoffs and beyond this season, those dreams were turned into nightmares almost instantaneously as newly-acquired quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles just four plays into his Jets career.
Rodgers got hurt so quickly, in fact, that neither Johnson nor the Jets fanbase got to see him complete a pass in green and white before going down for the season.
Now, Johnson’s Jets — stocked with a championship-caliber defense, an elite duo at running back, and one of the best pass catchers in the NFL in Garrett Wilson — will be turning to third-year signal-caller Zach Wilson to save their season.
Wilson, taken out of BYU with the second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, has looked nothing short of a massive bust during his first two seasons in New York, which is why they traded for the 39-year-old Aaron Rodgers in the first place.
Things certainly don’t get easier for the Jets in Week 2 as they head down to take on Dallas for the Cowboys’ home opener.
