Everyone’s favorite show about the shady, backroom dealings of Washington, D.C. has induced some real-life international intrigue. The Russians, it appears, are adamantly against House of Cards.
More specifically, they are against Kevin Spacey and Co. filming in the United Nations’ Security Council chamber. The showrunners were hoping to use the room as a backdrop for two episodes next season.
Producers approached the U.N. and members of the Security Council. While some were open to the idea, Russia adamantly said ‘Nyet.’
Their reasoning? They wanted to keep the room available in case an urgent security crisis cropped up. Which Russia is known to frequently induce, so that was probably smart of them.
