I expect to know more than I do now about this show in the future. Probably more than I should.

For those of us who like our TV character driven, subtle, and badass, FX has been delivering for a decade. Giving us our fix of redeemable anti-heros who most of us wish we were half as effective as, I greet with anticipation any new projects they’ve rubber stamped. I present for you the trailer for their new drama, The Bridge, which has the trappings of their next big hit. Keeping with their recipe for success this show seems to have all the ingredients necessary for a splendidly harrowing dark crime drama. The story of a joint investigation for a serial killer who operates on both sides of the US/Mexico border has the scintillatingly semi-plausible appeal a brief synopsis should have. High-strung idyosyncratically sexy female detective? Check. Exotically handsome mexican detective with an endearing accent and wit to spare? Check. Dark pasts for both? Probably. Thinly veiled sexual tension? Most likely. Throw in a creatively deranged serial killer who could be anyone, and I’m sold. Without further adieu…

Plus I can’t escape the irony of Buffalo Bill shocked by the killer’s twisted methods. Everything really does come full circle.
