Jimmy Kimmel Will Make You Choke Up Talking About David Letterman’s Affect On His Life

As we saw earlier with Seth Meyers tributes to David Letterman as he approaches his final show have been both funny as well as poignant.

Late night host Jimmy Kimmel also took a turn saying farewell to Letterman on Tuesday night, but his tribute will completely pull at your heartstrings as he talks about growing up being a huge Late Night fan and how Dave in particular is the reason he is where he’s at today.

“I watched the show every night and never missed it, and little did I know that many years and many pounds later, that watching the show was a great education for me. I learned almost nothing in college. I really didn’t. But watching Late Night, not only did I learn how to do everything from Dave, the reason I have this show is because the executives at ABC saw me when I was a guest on Dave’s show and hired me to host this show,” said Kimmel with tears welling up in his eyes. “I want to thank Dave and his writers and his producers.”

Later Kimmel said that his show would be a rerun on Wednesday night and that no one should watch it because they should be watching Letterman, “Dave is the best and you should see him.”
