Grand Theft Auto is heavily influenced by West Coast gangsta culture, so it makes perfect sense to mash up the GTA 5 with the most iconic West Coast gangsta rappers, N.W.A.
Remember Lance “Ryder” Wilson in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas? He was modeled after Eazy-E. In fact, Ryder was voiced by West Coast gangsta rapper MC Eiht, who is a member of C.M.W. AKA Compton’s Most Wanted. However this is GTA V, so the editor changed Franklin to look like the iconic rapper.
YouTube extraordinaire and GTA modder AnimalRobot recreated N.W.A.’s classic music video for “Straight Outta Compton” using the GTA 5 editor. “Straight Outta Compton” quickly morphs into “Straight Outta Ganton” in this splendid GTA 5 mod.
Now this isn’t a frame-for-frame facsimile of the original music video (There is no private jet in the original), but it is quite similar as you can see below. There’s plenty of slow motion cop foot chases and bouncing lowriders.
Speaking of “Straight Outta Compton,” the hip hop biopic destroyed at the box office in it’s opening weekend raking in $56.1 million. That enormous haul makes it the sixth-biggest August debut ever, and the tenth-biggest R-rated debut of all time.
