Showrunners Tease ‘Game Of Thrones’ Spin-Off Show, And By The Old Gods And The New, Make This Happen!

We are approaching the bittersweet conclusion of Game of Thrones faster than Drogon swooping to defend Daenerys Targaryen. There are only two short seasons left, and only 13 critical episodes left until your favorite fantasy show of all-time comes to an expected riveting ending in the cutthroat race for the Iron Throne. But before you do a Tommen, there is hope because the Game of Thrones showrunners hinted heavily that there could absolutely be a spin-off show following the completion of GoT.

The show’s creators DB Weiss and David Benioff teased the possibility of a Game of Thrones spin-off series while appearing on the UFC Unfiltered podcast.

“One of the great things about what [George R.R. Martin] did is he didn’t just build a story; he built a world with so many characters and such a rich, detailed history behind it,” the show’s creators explained. “There are a lot of different ways you could go with it.”

YES PLEASE.

“We just haven’t had time to really think through the details of it, because we’re so focused on just getting the show made,” they said. “This is such a 24-hour-a-day job. Once we start thinking about [any spin-off], we realize we have other things that are immediately pressing that we need to be thinking about.”

Understandable that they haven’t had time to plan a spin-off since they have to create the final and critical 13-15 hours of the greatest show of all-time.

This would make sense and cents for HBO, who has enjoyed unprecedented ratings from the hit series. There were 8.89 million viewers for GoT‘s Season 6 finale, plus there were at least one million pirated downloads in eight hours following the end of the show.

There could do a prequel and get deeper into the reign of the Mad King Aerys Targaryen. Or possibly the adventures of Ser Pounce.

By the Old Gods and the New, let this happen.

In the meanwhile, check out this Game Of Thrones theory.
