OMG. OMG. OMG. OMG…. JAWESOME! Remember Street Sharks, fellow ’90s kids?! Of course you do. They kicked some serious fin. This commercial aired approximately 1000 times on Saturday mornings between episodes of Pro Stars and Captain Planet and NBA Inside Stuff with Ahmed Rashid.
Remember the Street Sharks cartoon? “THEY BITE… THEY’RE GONNA KICK SOME SERIOUS FIN… STREET SHARKS! JAWESOME!”
Street Sharks are proof that you can spend your entire 20s and 30s tripping your balls off on acid and still design rad cartoons from the deepest recesses of your imagination. It’s like a Hells Angels fever dream during a class in marine biology. You know whoever thought about different species of sharks with HUGE biceps wearing jeans and rollerblades had to be tripping their face off. Still, the toys were awesome:
A few years ago the show made a comeback on Netflix, which was an awesome blast from the past.
Anyway, here’s a recently unearthed video of mega-actor Vin Diesel talking about Street Sharks at a toy fair circa 1994. It’s a nice walk down memory lane.
