Oh Boy: It Appears the People Behind ‘Jersey Shore’ are Making an EDM Reality Show

A website called edmcasting.com has appeared and looks to have been set up by Doron Ofir Casting, the company behind mainstream reality TV shows like Jersey Shore.

The site is inviting wannabe DJs to put themselves forward in the hope of being involved. Interested selectors have to apply by answering questions such as “What innovations do you bring to your genre / format?” and “BRAG! What are your best assets? Physical, material and social”.

We're expecting this to be big, brash and probably quite funny. Is the world quite ready for an EDM reality show?!

If I was one of those people all hopped up on EDM being a legitimate and truly sophisticated music genre (I do believe this–just look at Zedd–but I'm not about to follow Pope Urban the Skrillex on a crusade or anything), I would do everything in my power to stop this show from getting made. Sensationalizing stereotypes is the name of the game when it comes to this sort of thing, so there's not a chance in hell this'll actually be about the music.

Entertaining? Possibly. Good for EDM? Doubtful.
