A Bunch Of LA-Based Philadelphia Eagles Fans Are Raising Money For Autism On The Sunday Night Before MNF At SoFi

Eagles Fans In Los Angeles

via South Bay Eagles Alliance

If you think SoFi Stadium is going to be loud on Monday Night Football, wait until you see what’s happening in Hermosa Beach on Sunday. It’s one of my favorite times of the year as a Philadelphia Eagles fan in Los Angeles. It always gets ridiculous.

In case you’re one of those “no one watches football in LA” people (wrong), there are so freaking many Eagles fans out here in Los Angeles.

For the last 15 years, a massive crew known as the South Bay Eagles Alliance has quietly turned the South Bay into a Philly stronghold. We aren’t just talking about a few transplants at a dive bar; we are talking about a bi-coastal movement that has essentially made Hermosa Beach the “Jersey Shore of the West Coast.”

I caught up with Josh Weissman, one of the organizers, who explained why this specific pocket of LA bleeds green.

“What started as a handful of transplanted Philly people watching games together slowly turned into a real South Bay Eagles family,” Weissman said. “It’s grown every single year… It’s become part of their identity: Birds fans no matter the zip code.”

These guys don’t mess around. When they couldn’t make the Super Bowl LII parade in Philly, they entered their own float in the Hermosa Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade. They’ve even reenacted Washington’s Crossing the Delaware before a playoff game.

The Main Event

This Sunday—the night before the Eagles play the Chargers—the Alliance is partnering with the Philadelphia Eagles and the Eagles Autism Foundation for a massive takeover on the Hermosa Pier.

They are looking to raise $20,000 for autism research, and the lineup is absolutely stacked. Eagles Insider Dave Spadaro will be in the house hosting trivia (with secret prizes), and the silent auction list is heavy hitters only:

  • Jalen Hurts signed Super Bowl helmet
  • Saquon Barkley signed football
  • AJ Brown authentic signed jersey
  • Eagles Surfboard signed by LeSean “Shady” McCoy
  • Four Walls Whiskey bottle signed by the It’s Always Sunny cast
  • Canvas prints of the Linc & Citizens Bank Park (courtesy of Tavern on Main & Brewport)

If that’s out of your budget, raffle tickets are just $5 (and you get one free with your event ticket). There are also a TON of other prizes, and perhaps even an epic one from us here at BroBible.

Word on the street is that LeSean McCoy might even be there. Gotta show up to find out.

If you are in LA and an Eagles fan, you need to be here. It’s a chance to fuel up on city specials, sing “Fly Eagles Fly,” and raise money for a great cause before we turn SoFi into Lincoln Financial Field West on Monday.
