Years from now when we’re all being used by robots to manufacture energy (just like in The Matrix) we can look bak on this moment as the time that we all met the robot that would eventually overthrow humanity. This robot’s name is ‘Atlas, The Next Generation’ and he’s more advanced than anything we’ve ever seen before.
Atlas can run, he can walk across snow, and when Atlas’ handler pushes him over Atlas can get up on his own. These are some insanely complex movements from a robot, and it’s further proof that the Robot Apocalypse is imminent:
I only hope that when the robots come to harvest me for energy they’ll realize that I’m one of the laziest mofos around, and I have minimal amounts of energy to give. They’re better off harvesting the energy of a sloth than taking my life force, and I’m banking on that saving my life one day.
Here’s what Boston Dynamics has to say about their latest ‘Atlas’ robot:
A new version of Atlas, designed to operate outdoors and inside buildings. It is specialized for mobile manipulation. It is electrically powered and hydraulically actuated. It uses sensors in its body and legs to balance and LIDAR and stereo sensors in its head to avoid obstacles, assess the terrain, help with navigation and manipulate objects. This version of Atlas is about 5′ 9″ tall (about a head shorter than the DRC Atlas) and weighs 180 lbs.
I have to admit, I never imagined 5’9″ robots only weighing 180-pounds as the robots that would take over the world….But such is life, this robot is our end.
