As October comes to a close, we find ourselves at a major crossroads for the sports calendar. Baseball is in its final act, the NBA just kicked off, college basketball is right around the corner, and hockey is allegedly still in business (apologies to hockey fans; I couldn’t care less). You have more sports than ever to hold your attention right now, but don’t forget who still reigns supreme in the fall: football.

What did we learn from the top-ranked teams in Week 9 of the college football season? Not much, except that the heavyweights at the top of the list are punching at their weight class right now. We also learned that Brian Kelly wasn’t qualified for the LSU job, though I could have told you that when he first got the job. Tough time down in the Bayou right now, but a great time to be an overpaid and overrated coach on a buyout.

In honor of the 2025 college football season, we’re going to have updated rankings every week tracking the top 5 teams in the country. It’s a great opportunity to grab the jersey of your alma mater as they ascend to the top of the list. If your team doesn’t pop up on our weekly list, don’t fret: you can still find their apparel at Nike and adidas all season long.
