The year is ending. Resolutions are looming. Most of them will, unfortunately, require shoes.

Nike has quietly marked down the Field General to under $65. This price point suggests they would rather the shoes be in your closet than in their warehouse. It is a mutually beneficial arrangement.

You do not need a promo code. You do not need a strategy. As long as you have feet, you’re good to go.

Nike Field General Shoes

When Nike released these in 1982, they were serious equipment. Designed for quarterbacks like Archie Manning and Dan Fouts, that nubby waffle sole was engineered to grip the unforgiving artificial turf of the era.

Today, however, we suspect their habitat is more likely a brunch line or a casual Friday. The traction remains excellent, though now it serves the only sport that matters this time of year: looking athletic while doing absolutely nothing.
