It’s been six years since we lost Kobe Bryant, and it still doesn’t always feel real. I still remember leaving a movie theater and checking my phone to see the news the day it happened and feeling shellshocked. Growing up in New York at a time when the Knicks were embarrassingly bad, I never had a team worth rooting for, so it was easy to latch onto the success of the Lakers when Kobe was at his peak.
