It’s only fitting that Nike would drop a new colorway for the Air Jordan 1 on the cusp of All-Star Game Weekend. Let’s not forget Mr. Jordan’s accomplishments in All-Star Game festivities over the years, from his three MVP awards to his mind-blowing dunks immortalized on posters to this day. I’d like to see Mac McClung try make that kind of impact with his cute little dunks.

All the details of the original iconic shoe are there, but it’s the cool grey color scheme and the gold logos on the ankle that really make these pop.

It’s weird to call a pair of Air Jordans unpretentious, but it rings true in my head. After 40+ years of Nike basketball shoes evolving and transforming, there’s something comforting about getting back to basics with a pair of kicks that are almost more influential than the man who made them famous.
