Beats By Dre headphones are the ultimate over-priced marketing gimmick to end all marketing gimmicks. For starters, the asking price is absurd; $300+ is WAY too much for a pair of headphones thats going to break with everyday use. Also, someone who appreciates nuance in recorded music, I HATE how they default to settings that over-amplify the bass and drown out tones in the upper-range. It’s an audiophile’s nightmare.
That said, Beats are a coveted item amongst today’s youth. It’s a status symbol, more than anything. YouTube’s Marques Brownlee perfectly explains how the cult of celebrity causes people to desire owning Beats By Dre headphones. Beats are a cult and you’re a sheep for wanting them.
