Celebrate National Tequila Day with an Orange Margarita

Colin Joliat

National Tequila Day is everyone’s favorite excuse to drink on July 24th. This recipe for an orange margarita will finally use that fruit that’s been sitting in your fridge for a week. It couldn’t be much easier to make either, which is good when it comes time to mix the 3rd of 4th cocktail.

2 ounces tequila
1 1/3 ounces orange liqueur
2/3 ounce fresh orange juice
1/3 ounce fresh lime juice

I used Don Julio and Cointreau because I’m a classy MF’er, but whatever you have should suffice. Just don’t get anything that comes in plastic or wears a red sombrero.

Add tequila, liqueur, and juices to shaker.
Add ice and shake, shake, shake, señora.
Pour in chilled margarita glass (which I don’t own)
Garnish with orange wedge.
Drink, repeat, repeat, repeat.

You should be able to get three cocktails out of each orange and lime, assuming you’re decent at juicing fruit. I’d recommend buying a dozen of each and start celebrating in style.

If oranges aren’t your thing, I don’t know why you clicked on this post. Lucky for you I have an equally awesome recipe for a Blackberry Mint Margarita that you can try.
