Free Smashburger today for anyone named ‘Burger’

Today is National Hamburger Day, and Smashburger is rewarding the poor souls whose last name is “Burger,” or some derivation thereof, with a free Smashburger. They’re calling the campaign, “Burgers Eat Free.”

Facebook

According to WhitePages.com, there are approximately 21,687 people in the United States with the last name “Burger” and 1,530 named “Hamburger.” Either way, burger lovers with variations of “Burger” – or Berger, Weinberger, Rosenberger, etc. – in their names will receive one FREE Classic Smash™ in recognition of the holiday that celebrates America’s favorite food.

I’ve had about enough of BS made up national food/drink holidays. At least Smashburger put it to good use with and entertaining “Burgers Eat Free” promotion. I’m guessing about 12 people take them up on the offer, but it was a clever idea. It’s certainly better than the standard, “It’s burger day so you should eat a burger otherwise you’re offending the holiday gods,” nonsense that most chains pull. OK, so that’s an exaggeration, but I’m still sick of their shit.

If you happen to be named Pickles McBurgerstein, go reap your beefy reward. You can find all the Smashburger locations here.
