Google turns your favorite website into a video game

Google does a lot of things that are just goofy and weird. Usually they’re tech demos that take strange and unusual forms.

Like World Wide Maze, which turns any website into a maze game.

This video shows off the concept fairly effectively:

Basically, you have to sync your smartphone, which has to be running either iOS 5 and up or Android 4.0 and up, to your computer’s copy of Chrome. Your smartphone serves as the controller, while Chrome handles the heavy lifting of rendering the website into a game level.

We’ve tried it and it’s… bizarre to say the least. Ridiculously fun, for at least ten minutes or so, but weird.

Of course, what Google is doing is testing out ways to adapt website architecture to new and different forms. Where they might go with this is anybody’s guess in terms of website design, but it’s a neat way to approach the websites you check every single day.

Also, it’s a great way to kill time at work because, let’s face it, we all do that with Google doodles anyway.
