There’s normal, run-of-the-mill pompous. And then there’s signing Anne Frank’s guest book and saying “Hopefully she would have been a Belieber.” Justin Bieber is transcendently self-involved.
The Anne Frank House in Amsterdam posted the following to Facebook yesterday:
Bieber’s signature in the guestbook reads, “Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber.”
The post went viral on Twitter after being discovered by BBC correspondent Anna Holligan.
The fact that Bieber called her a “great girl” and capped it off with that fine bit of delusion is the most surreal thing you’ll ever see on the Internet.
Plus we all know Anne Frank would have preferred the nondescript ethnicity and mild edginess of One Direction’s Zayn Malik. The less Aryan the better, I’m sure.
