Slot Sofa: Save room in your place

If you’ve got an apartment, even a big one, space is at a premium. The problem is that most space saving ideas kind of suck; they’re a compromise, or they look stupid, or they don’t work.

The Slot Sofa is none of the above.

As you might have guessed, it’s a sofa where stuff fits into it. A lot of stuff, in fact: A coffee table and two footrests.

How? Clever space management. The coffee table and foot rests are one piece that slides in over the middle cushion and under the other two seats, so the sofa is a two seater with a place to put your drink even when fully compact. The footrest cushions tuck underneath the couch seats for easy storage. When you need more floor space to work out, tuck this stuff in. When you need more space for friends to watch the game, pull everything out.

The only downside is that it’s still a work in progress to some degree: The Slot Sofa is still being tested to work out the kinks and figure out how to bring it to market. But hopefully designer Matthew Pauk will bring this to market soon: We know far too many apartments that need it.
