WWE Rumors: Roman Reigns versus The Rock to main event Wrestlemania 31

via WWE

Wrestlemania 31 is almost a year off. WWE is already thinking about the main event.

Since the WWE is essentially a TV show (with occasional special episodes people pay for on Sundays) planning for three, six and even twelve months down the road is necessary.

Roman Reigns, if all goes according to plan, will be the breakout star of The Shield. The WWE’s plans for Reigns will be more obvious after Payback. Reigns should, SHOULD be the last man standing in the match pitting The Shield versus Evolution but Paige SHOULD have won on Monday on Raw but SHOULD is never really always the WWE way.

If WWE creative is penciling in a loose sketch of what the Wrestlemania 31 card will look like, Roman Reigns is probably in the main event plans. According to rumors from Wrestlezone.com, Reigns might be fighting for his first world title — but against who?

“In terms of future plans and winning a world title, Reigns is almost guaranteed that his winning of his first world title will be special and done at a WrestleMania. Assuming things stay the course, it’s very likely that could be next year at WrestleMania 31. As far as who he would work with, the two names that keep coming up are Brock Lesnar and The Rock. Lesnar is an option but WWE is also considering other potential opponents for him at ‘Mania. The Rock has expressed to McMahon personally that he wants to work with Reigns before he retires.”

DAMN IT! The only takeaway from that entire snippet that’s sticking in my head is THE ROCK WILL AGAIN BE CHAMPION. Once again, a part-time champion, the moment another movie of his needs fellating on Raw and Smackdown. The Rock does have a rematch coming, against John Cena, so that also means CENA WILL ONCE AGAIN HOLD THE BELT.

This post had such high hopes. I thought I’d be talking about Roman Reigns but here I am discussing The Rock and Cena.

Here’s the best option for all involved — Lesnar goes on his own Raw and PPV rampage of wins (let’s call it “The Streak after The Streak”) and walks into Wrestlemania 31 with both belts (or one single belt please) and Reigns gets put over in a massive, massive way.

Let The Rock and Cena do their little dance somewhere else on the card.
