This So-Called ‘Banksy’ Tribute To The Terrorism Victims In France Isn’t Banksy, But It’s Perfect

This evening the nation of France is in mourning following arguably the worst terrorist attack on French soil since World War II. The cowardly attack of terrorism against the controversial newspaper Charlie Hebdo — and free speech everywhere, really — resulted in 12 deaths at the hands of three gunmen who stormed the Charlie Hebdo’s offices in Paris. Charlie Hebdo is famous for publishing controversial — and funny! — cartoons dealing with social issues, including some involving Islam. Familiarize yourself with the facts of the attack here.

There’s a wonderful tribute making the rounds on Instagram from an account called “Banksy” that isn’t actually the famed street artist’s account. It’s pretty much the perfect reaction to the shooting; Somber, powerful, and inspirational. A reminder that free speech can never really be silenced.
