Take A Look Inside The Air Force’s Underground Bunker For Commanding Forces During WWIII

Pretty awesome little documentary here about Colorado’s Cheyenne Mountain, the Air Force’s underground operations center for the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). Built in the height of the Cold War, it’s a so-called “underground city” built to withstand a nuclear blast.

The underground command center monitors North American air space, as well as missile threats. It’s the “brain steam of our nervous system” when it comes to strategic defense. The complex stopped giving tours due to national security back in 1999, but Airman Magazine just took a look inside.
