FBI Recommends Not Bringing Charges Against Hillary Clinton For Her Handling Of Classified Emails

Today, FBI Director James Comey held a press conference to announce his department’s findings from their investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server during her time as Secretary of State.

He found evidence of 110 emails containing classified information at the time they were sent, eight of which were of the highest classification. Clinton stated that zero pieces of classified email were ever sent using her private server.

While the director found that her actions and that of her administration were “extremely careless” and that her server could have been accessed by hostile actors while abroad, Director Comey recommended that no charges be filed against Hillary Clinton.

The Justice Department could still bring charges against Hillary, but given that the FBI just publicly stated no prosecutor could reasonably try this case, it seems extremely unlikely that any will happen.
