John Oliver’s Sunday night rants continue to be one of the best things about having an HBO subscription. Last night he went IN on standardized testing, which has completely changed the dynamic of the public education system in the United States since George W. Bush’s No Child Left Behind policy was implemented 14 years ago.
Is standardized testing working? Hard to tell. That’s the subject of education grad school programs everywhere these days. But John Oliver did a pretty wonderful job laying out how standardized tests impact school funding and create a scary “achievement gap.”
