Mike Pence Booed While Attending ‘Hamilton,’ Cast Delivers Powerful Message To VP, Trump Demands Apology

Mike Pence has had an extremely busy week which included helping President Trump select his White House staff and cabinet members of his incoming administration. To have some relaxation the future Vice President of the United States went to the insanely popular Broadway show Hamilton.

In the past, Pence has said “Congress should oppose any effort to put gay and lesbian relationships on an equal legal status with heterosexual marriage.” Pence, the self-described “I’m a Christian, a conservative, and a Republican, in that order,” was not welcomed by most of the crowd that came to see the Broadway musical that stars the openly gay and HIV positive actor Javier Muñoz as Hamilton.

Vice President Pence was greeted with boos and some cheers as he took his seat.

During the curtain call, the cast addressed Pence directly. Hamilton cast member Brandon Victor Dixon, who plays Aaron Burr, respectively asked Pence if he could give him a message.

Vice-president elect Pence, we welcome you and we truly thank you for joining us at Hamilton: An American Musical. We really do.

We, sir, are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents — or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights, sir.

But we truly hope that this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and work on behalf of all of us. All of us.

We truly thank you for sharing this show — this wonderful American story told by a diverse group of men, women of different colors, creeds, and orientations.

President-elect Donald J. Trump bombastically weighed in on how his Vice President was treated and demanded an apology.
